A Nonverbal Immediacy Treatment with Pre-Service Teachers Using Mixed Reality Simulations

The purpose of this mixed method embedded design study was to examine the effect a treatment package consisting video and reflection, feedback, coaching on pre-service teachers’ use nonverbal immediacy behaviors as they delivered lessons student avatars in reality simulations. Pre-service teachers at three points time over course semester within teacher preparation course. Following each simulation, participants received components targeted improving teachers. quantitative data were collected via scores. Qualitative observations simulations participant exit interviews. Statistical analysis resulted significant difference when Time 2 3 compared. An qualitative two findings. Finding one was: Video fostered reflections simulated environment feedback simulation improved interactions. Connections literature implications are provided.
